Tool Of The Trade

We went to Tool Of The Trade for our weekend breakfast.
Initially, we thought the TOTT stands for Talk Of The Town but seriously, Tool Of The Trade sounds more appropriate after visiting the big store which sells tools required for baking and cooking !

This is TOTT at Sime Darby building along Dunearn Road.

We had our breakfast here at the Bistro. We were the early birds ... the Bistro was practically empty when we arrived except for one table!

Note the string of metal spoons as decorations on the wall ...

The breakfast looked really home-made .. something which I would prepare in the morning. Frankly, I was quite disappointed. However, after trying the simple spread in front of me, it was not bad.

The waiter served us 2 half-boiled eggs and said that it was complimentary from the Chef ! My, the two of us ate three eggs for breakfast that day ! I must say that we enjoyed the fresh half boiled egg very much.

The huge store were divided into various sections like housekeeping, appliances, cook, host, bake, books etc ..

Another creative idea of how to hang your lightings ! This would look great in the kitchen or dining room !

Bakery section with more uncommonly found cake moulds. They do not come cheap though, a mould is around $50.00.

Nice presentation of food plates ... nice for hosting parties.

Pancakes griddle with barnyard animals ! So cute !

They have various studios for baking and cooking.

Yes, yes, these are the real tools of the trade !!! Gigantic ! Look out !

Happy Birthday, Lao Gong !

This year was easy, no cooking was allowed in the kitchen till the irritating fruit flies have terminated their cycle.

Therefore, we went to West Coast Seafood near my parents' house to celebrate Kian's birthday.

Crayfish cooked with secret recipe which the restaurant manager cannot revealed. My dad preferred this dish to be cooked with sambal but I thought we should try other types of cooking.

The fishmaw soup and the spinach cooked with 3 type of eggs were chosen by dad. I chose the fried kang kong and Yam ring for my mum. Hee... CK was late from work, therefore the 3 of us decided the dishes first so that he can eat once he reached the restaurant.

We asked the restaurant manager to take a group photo for us. Ha, my dad didn't understand why we must take a photo but he obliged my request.

18th Anniversary and just us ...

Our 18th anniversary...we have indeed came together for so many years ! CK has asked me to search for a nice place to have dinner. After some searching in goggle, I have chanced upon Graze and decided to have our anniversary dinner there.

Graze is located at Rochester Road and it's becoming the next "Dempsy Road" food spot in Singapore. I won't say that the food there is economical but the atmosphere and uniqueness of the place is quite pleasing. For special occasion, it was a nice quiet place to hide from the crowds.

Tiger prawns 3 ways
(tempura, chilled, sautéed + coconut sorbet + cucumber oil)
Above is just an entree before our mains.

Crispy skin sea bass for me.
(sweet corn basil mash + sauté of leeks + fine herbs)

Signature roasted New Zealand lamb rack for CK
(chickpea puree + tabbouleh + chorizo + sumac chevre)

Vanilla bean & raspberry crème brulee w biscotti

Hot sticky toffee
(steamed date pudding, toffee sauce + hokey pokey ice cream)
This dessert was wonderful especially the date pudding !

There are about 8 restaurants at Rochester Park. A much smaller establishment than Dempsy Hill but the colonial houses and the grounds are very charming.

Happy Anniversary to US !

CK mentioned that he chose this bouquet of flowers himself ... :) pretty nice ... happy with his choice. He was also quite happy with my choice at Graze.

Dinner on 14 Feb 2011

Not sure if this a V-Day dinner ...we never did celebrate this day as it does not held any significant memories or special moments for us. Dun be misunderstood, we still feel that this day is filled with love whether one celebrates or not.

Anyhow, CK was glad that I prepared western dinner for him.
I did these all in an hour's time after bringing the two doggies back from their walk. It was a multi-task with 2 stove burners cooking soup and pan-frying chicken breasts and oven baking portobello mushrooms ! The Ayam brand baked beans was heated up after the soup. CK came back almost on time to eat the dinner.


The portobello mushrooms with minced garlics and olive oil took almost 30 minutes to bake in oven.


For CK ... chicken breasts tenderized and marinated with mixed herbs the night before. Chicken thighs would have tasted much better ... we were trying to be more healthy here. Love-shaped chili sauce on plate using aid from my baking collections.

Celebrating 38th Birthday at USS !

My Birthday treats in Universal Studio Singapore on 7 Jan 11 ! It is the smallest in the world but we spent the whole day in USS till 10:30 pm ! So it was money well-spent. It was drizzling a while but overall it was not hot and pleasant.

Shrek's swarm. It is not very big in scale and could not be entered. Such a pity ! However, it was great to see Shrek's humble home ! Felt like entering into Shrek's world !


Shrek and Fiona's beautiful castle. Shrek 4-D Adventure is shown here. This is a 4-D film that you shouldn't missed !


It was so nice to spot Puss-in-boots ! He is ever so kool ! Look at his pose ! Doesn't he looks like the sexist cat in the world ?

Donkey, such a cheerful and a chatterbox in the movie ! Nothing deters him !


None of us knew who this character is in Shrek.


We ate a simple lunch at Goldilocks selling fried chickens.


"Donkey Live" show ... personally we don't find this very entertaining. It is basically a sing-along session in an animated theatre.


Enchanted Airways .. we went 2 rounds on this short ride. Pretty fun !

THE LOST WORLD

A small hatchery tucked at the corner of the Lost World.

Popular Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure ride ! We queued for about more than 30 minutes for this ride. All worth it ! I cannot recall that this ride could be so fun ! It's wet wet wet ! So come brace with your own poncho as those sold in USS is not that helpful in preventing getting wet.

Entertaining water-splash activities with the audience before the real show started ! You won't get bored while waiting for the show.

There are only 2 rides in Sci-Fi city. The other is "Accelerator" which we did not managed to take.


Behind us is Battlestar Galactica, unfortunately it has been closed for sometime.

Our dinner at Hollywood China Bistro.






















Some night scenes taken within Hollywood area. The rest of USS is closed after 7pm but Hollywood is open every Friday and Saturday after 7pm till 10:00pm. Fireworks started at 9:30pm.








How can we leave US empty-handed ??

There are some travel agents situated at the USS carpark which are also assigned to sell USS tickets. A rather strange arrangement. Anyhow, we got our tickets from there.
