Aspiring to be a Singer ?

Have been looking forward to this KTV day at K-Box @Scape !

Our drinks and titbit. Thanks to BC and Fang for the delicious finger food "smuggled" into the room. (Oh and the yummy orange cake baked by BC in the morning !) Thanks to LL for her keychains made of wood from Sabah !

We used to go KTV very frequently in our poly and younger days. Very glad that most can made it for this KTV session. We knew that some friends were not very keen to sing but they still give "face" and came along ... thanks :) Fang and Gavin have sung a number of love songs .. some very close to heart to their joyous big day in October.

Hey, Min was our little singer to sing the first song ! Guess what song she sang ? Twinkle twinkle little star ? Baa baa, black sheep ? Hee ...no ... it's 我问天 !

Our hokkein singer, Singapore version 陈雷! (Kian, you must bring a hat next time when we go KTV again) BC whispered to me that CK's Hokkein pronunciation was quite good !

This was the most comical and hilarious 童话 we have ever heard ! Laugh till we teared ! Ok, the "culprit" was CK using his funny and simply horribly amusing voice to sing this touching song !

Our little girl sang two songs ... this famous K-pop song is "Nobody" by Wonder Girls. Our young budding Superstar in the making !

I was rather worried that our two teens might feel bored with us ! My worries were unfounded ! JL said that he felt very high singing(yes, even higher when he's kareoking with his peers) with us ! You know, we took this seriously as a compliment ! Ryan said he has sung his "worth" for this KTV session. We couldn't disagree with him. This amazing boy can sing Korean pop songs (with all the perfect candy-looking Korean girls MTV), dated Mandarin pop songs and current English songs ! Wow, we were impressed ! Applause, applause ! Anyhow, it was really fun to watch the 2 teens singing their lungs out ! We were also kinda "updated" with some of the funky, fast and weird songs that the boys have chosen to sing !

18th Anniversary and just us ...

Our 18th anniversary...we have indeed came together for so many years ! CK has asked me to search for a nice place to have dinner. After some searching in goggle, I have chanced upon Graze and decided to have our anniversary dinner there.

Graze is located at Rochester Road and it's becoming the next "Dempsy Road" food spot in Singapore. I won't say that the food there is economical but the atmosphere and uniqueness of the place is quite pleasing. For special occasion, it was a nice quiet place to hide from the crowds.

Tiger prawns 3 ways
(tempura, chilled, sautéed + coconut sorbet + cucumber oil)

(sweet corn basil mash + sauté of leeks + fine herbs)

Signature roasted New Zealand lamb rack for CK
(chickpea puree + tabbouleh + chorizo + sumac chevre)

Vanilla bean & raspberry crème brulee w biscotti

Hot sticky toffee
(steamed date pudding, toffee sauce + hokey pokey ice cream)
This dessert was wonderful especially the date pudding !

There are about 8 restaurants at Rochester Park. A much smaller establishment than Dempsy Hill but the colonial houses and the grounds are very charming.

Happy Anniversary to US !

CK mentioned that he chose this bouquet of flowers himself ... :) pretty nice ... happy with his choice. He was also quite happy with my choice at Graze.

Graduation 2011

Congratulations to all LSCT graduates and Staff Teaching Award Recipients on their 2011 Graduation! Happy faces, jovial atmosphere and lots of snapping of photos!

An hour at Pinnacle@Duxton

Thanks to Shirley and Jason (& Jason's mum too) for letting us into her very designer-feel house and the 50th storey to catch the awesome views !

We also understand that there is a $5 charge per person for public access to enter the sky bridge. The sky bridge is awesome, relaxing and very clean !

The cityview on the 50th floor. We managed to catch the fireworks from USS at 9pm when we first reached the sky bridge ! CK was quite sharp to notice the fireworks ! (of course, too late to put up tripod to capture that view !)

The rock climbing area ... there were many areas which we have not explored yet hopefully can get a chance later to do so.

The high railings were rather challenging for photography. Quite hard to capture more of the Pinnacle itself.

Overall, a great experience to be in this strategically located HDB ! It does have that condominium feeling in every aspects ! Hee .. missing Leia's occasional hugs now and then ...

Joo Sheng and Co

Went to Joo Sheng at Victoria Street to meet up with Ruth. Ruth's dad could not carried on with his existing business as he was not well. I went there to give my support to this pal.

Joo Sheng & Co sells all sort of table cloth, cushion covers, tissue box covers, bedsheet covers with lace trimmings on them. She will be ceasing her long-time business today!

I have the opportunity to stay in the shop and watched my couple friends as they sold the cloths to walk-in customers. There were quite a number of "old" customers who were really sad when they knew that the shop is closing down! There was this malay lady customer who asked for Ruth's uncle the moment she came into the shop. She must be a frequent customer of Joo Sheng. I saw that she has bought quite a number of bedsheets and table cloths! Another chinese mum and daughter came into the shop. You could tell that the daughter was quite sad and repeated twice that she has feelings for these items since young !

It was very heart-breaking to watch all these but at the same time you feel very heart-warming especially for uncle's faithful customers ! Uncle, please get well soon ...

Ruth and Ivan, this is a difficult and tough time for you both but seeing you both working so tirelessly for your dad is truly admirable :) Yeah, babe, you still look young and pretty *wink. When all these craze is over, let's go for a break over dinner.

Revitalization for the soul

Weather has been humid and hot ! One of the best and "cheapo" way to cool down is to stay inside departmental stores ! Of course, another reason was to get some earrings and necklaces which happens to be one of my favourite vanity collections.

It has been quite a long time since I have purchased any earrings or necklaces. I was so glad to find them at Isetan and Tangs, very happy shopping for them indeed.

A simple ribbon-shaped crystal hoop earrings from Isetan. (Can't recall the brand though but it was from Korea. 20% off)

Cute bear bear ... I was quite hesitant to get this pair, seems to cute for my age. Decided to give it a try. From the same section as the ribbon-shaped crystal earrings.

From Metalli. Love their accessories made in Spain. The workmanship is relaitvely good and they have a wide varieties of style to choose from. BTW, the Metallic branch in Tangs is so much bigger than Isetan. The friendly sales assistant helped me to decide on this matching wash-out copper earrings and necklace.

This rather eye-catching necklace goes well with just plain dark clothings. Matching it with a real simple small earrings to complete the look.

A modern-looking table runner which really brightened up the dull dining table .... the runner was introduced by the friendly sales assistant.

Mother's day celebrations 2011

Mother's day celebrations at big bro's house.
We all prepared/bought some dishes over to their house.

Normally before we ate dinner or waiting for the rest to arrive, Leng Leng will bring us for a walk around their estate.

All the mums, including my own mum.

My gift to my mum ... I've told her this Ipad is for her Mother's day, Birthday and Christmas gift, 3 in 1. My mum is a "game-girl" ... she has already tried her hands on Ipad2 from my cousin. She also owed a Nintento game and PSP. She knew more games than me and recently introduced me a game called "Birzzle". The first thing she saw her gift is this question "Is this Ipad1 or Ipad2" ? When I told her it's Ipad2, she was very happy !
