Talented Bryan & Gags Asia

Always looking forward to Tuesday night when my eyes could be treated to some home renovations transformation by Bryan! I was really impressed with Bryan. He has this natural talent in terms of choosing the right furniture and accessories to dress up a house. He can draw very well too. Most of the times, he will do his own art and craft to be hung on the wall or simply just drew on the wall itself !

I have been following up on his blogs whereby he will take some photos of "before" and "after" photos of the renovations he has done. If I have watched the episode, I will sure leave my comments for him. As you can guess, it's all compliments lor.

Pineapple Tarts Making 2010

I was appreciative that my friends were able to fulfill my wish of pineapple baking for this CNY ! I think I must have sounded real desperate? genuine ? enthusiastic ? Hee, whatever it is, I was glad that I have asked ...

The week before the pineapple tarts gathering, I have been thinking of how settle my friends' lunch at home. I wasn't a fantastic cook and my inconsistent culinary skills so far has been "tested" on CK and occasionally on my mum. However, I have decided to be brave about it to further "test" it on my friends. Bawahwah ...

Fried items are normally easy, of course. It was just a matter to frying them to near perfection. Well, I admitted that I was a little lazy and did not change the frying oil after I have fried the vegetarian dumplings. The sotong balls, fishcakes and chicken nuggets have some burnt stains on them ! I was also quite anxious about the fried rice as I seldom cook this. The overall fried rice looked appealing but was unfortunately too dry. The noodles was pretty tasteful ... hee hee. Ok, at least one item got positive comments to boost my morale.



After we have regained our energy, it was time for some serious pineapple tarts making ! Oh, the "we" referred to the four ladies, of course ! This year, we were happy that Tiang can join us ! She did not managed to join us last year. We hope that next year, more people can join us too.

Everything went pretty smoothly except that we got unsalted butter instead of salted ones. Somehow, after the pineapple tarts session last year, we more or less knew what should be done. Our Master Fang made the dough while the rest of us rolled the pineapple paste into little balls. The pineapple balls have increased in sizes compared to last year as we wanted to taste the pineapple more. We gossiped as we worked and time passed by quickly. It was entertaining.

Our oven worked differently. Instead of the usual 15-20 minutes of baking time, ours might take another 5-10 minutes more to attain the desired results. We worked fast in getting the pineapple paste inside the dough but the time was wasted on baking them. Nonetheless, we managed to bake all tarts to a satisfactory golden brown.

We were proud and happy with our achievements. They might not be the nicest tarts in the world but the effort and fun of making them far exceeded this. To me, the tarts tasted nice and I couldn't help myself eating a couple more to satisfy my cravings ! Hope the 2 boys and Min Min have fun too! When I told the 2 boys that we will be having 2 gatherings during CNY, JL sounded so happy!

BTW, I have brought them to office and my colleagues gave good comments too !
I am looking forward to CNY whereby we can get together for more good times !

The man and dog never contributed anything to the pineapple tarts lah, but nonetheless we cannot missed the out! Oh, CK helped with the food-tasting! Easy job!

A visit to Senja

We went to Senja Road to collect our letters. Unfortunately, we could not met up with Danica and Isabel as they were out. Nonetheless, the have passed the letters to auntie.

While driving along the winding roads, we passed many memory lanes. The grass patch where Jojo got his ants bite, the lanes we brought Jojo for his nightly walk, the innovative mini gardens reformed by residents etc.

I felt like I was home, it was strange. While in the lift, the feeling was even stronger. However, when we reached our previous unit, somehow I felt slapped by a reality that the unit no longer belonged to us !

We chatted with auntie and uncle who occupied a few units from our old unit previously. Left some CNY for some neighbours too.

HDB has finally completed the covered walkway leading to the bus-stop !

This hardly look like our old unit except for the gate ! Looks very bare now .. sob sob. It used to look very inviting with the brick-liked wallpapers and bench.

Shark's Birthday and my belated Birthday

Riverside Point at night. Beautifully lighted up. This place has livened up over the years. It has been ages since we explored this area. The restaurants and pubs on the first floor facing the river were crowded with "ah moh" diners. However, those shops occupying the 2nd floor and above looked a sorry sight.


We walked across the wide bridge leading to Clark Quay. Another successful transformation ! It was crowded with youngsters, westerners and locals! Businesses are thriving, there are many nicely decorated upmarket restaurants. Before we went to Haagen Dazs for ice-cream, we took this group photo at the entrance of Clark Quay. To our delight, we agreed that this group photo is nice with the colourful background !

Caterpillar gal

I just love shoes and bags. I have a nickname by CK called "Caterpillar".
These are relatively new shoes which I have bought but some were not even wore yet.



A sporty looking white shoes which thought of wearing for my April holidays. Bought this pair of shoes in Square 2.


Love this pair of high heels. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. The heels were high and I was rather worried. However, the support was well-made and it was comfortable.


This was the most expensive heels I ever bought. This Mary Jane shoes is from Clarks. It has very solid and stable heels.


Just bought this pair yesterday at O.G. They look so pretty. At $39.90, I thought it was a good buy. This shoes can be wore during more formal occasion.


Ok, I did not bought this pair this year. This pair was bought last year, for some reason, the crystals on the front have dropped out. Yesterday, I used superglue to stick ribbon (from a discarded shoe) on it. Hope they doesn't look too weird. I still prefer crystals and till I found them, this pair will have to bear with the ribbons. I love the glass heels ...

Chinatown 2010

I make it a point to visit Chinatown at least 1 time before Chinese Lunar Year. This year, the motivation is higher as I need to "replace" the CNY ornaments that have disappeared mysteriously !


The first few stores seems familiar. The items they sold are mainly Taiwanese sweets and CNY ornaments.


I got no courage to venture any further since I was not intending to buy any sweets from the stall. I proceeded to the Garden Bridge.


This was taken from the Garden Bridge. This year, the theme is sweet pink blossoms.


Not sure why there are stalls on the garden bridge now ? There are too many stalls around the area without having more stalls on the bridge. It will be harder for people to pass by closer to CNY.

Notice that there are more hip fridge magnets besides the usual merlion ones. However, these magnets do not represented Singapore very well especially those with Mickey and Minnie mouse. Maybe they should consider "Universal Studio" theme instead of Disneyland characters in future ? Hee hee ...just kidding. Some traditional magnets are going as low as $1. Saw quite a number of young Asian tourists buying them.
