Mini 摆家乐

The blown-up photo of the Paris Street scene is ready ! CK helped me to hung up on the wall ... pretty satisfied with it.

I did not honored my words of my last GSS buys ! With this new photo frame, I decided to have a mini make-over of the items placed on the high table with vases etc.

Bought these at IKEA separately. Have chosen 3 tones of fine coloured sands and a clear glass elongated vase with 4 cactus.

A couple of red & white vases ... and 2 round lightings ...


The blown up photo and mini make over of the items on the table ... very IKEA.

Change the stiff looking cushions on the sofa with 3 more cheerful and matching ones.


More photos along the corridor is finished. Still able to accommodate 4 more photo frames.

My unique Christmas Pressie from CK

Thanks to Jo that I got some decorating ideas for our own home too. These wall decals were bought from Square 2, eZ-Decor. We bought 3 sets but the "Cats playing around lamp" was out of stock, therefore can only be collected by this Wednesday. These wall decals are quite affordable and easy to paste on.

I always find that the wall above the TV console is too plain. With this horizontally inverted tree branch and bird cage, it looks more interesting now. This set costs $29.00.


We purposely pasted a few single leaves de-attached from the branches so that they appeared to be blown away by the wind. I find this especially graphic as this branch was just next to an open window.



This was a similar set we bought but it was pasted upright (no single leaves sweeping down). We shifted the bench next to the wall decal to get the feeling of sitting next to a tree & the bird cage ... a natural feel.

Very excited for CK to collect the "Cats playing with lamp" this Wednesday. It will be pasted along the corridor leading to the 3 bedrooms.

Dad with Jojo

Yes, my dad has finally came over to our new home for a surprise visit.
We fetched my parents and brought them to a nearby coffeeshop for "zhi cher". The dinner was good and I teased my dad that I saw the President more than I saw him. I saw the President on Channel 5, 8, U channel and even Channel News Asia, but I hardly see my dad even if I visited their home weekly. My dad laughed and told me that the timing wasn't right, by the time we reached their home, he has left for his coffeeshop routine. (which was about 6pm)

Anyhow, we brought him to our house and the first thing he asked was how's Jojo and how are the chincillas ? This is my dad, he loves animals ! Yes, Jojo was delighted to see him !

Visitations

I think I must mention this in my blog.

We have 2 young ladies, Karen and Huey Shan who unofficially visited us and walked all the way from Ngee Ann Polytechnic to Bukit Batok!

The house was not very ready then. After a simple dinner, we brought Jojo down for a walk and at the same time showed them around the estate. We came by one of my favourite spots where the open fitness center is. It was the breeziest area there and we had a great time chatting and enjoying the breeze ! Yes, Huey Shan has a "good" time asking Jojo to sit down !

Regina also came by for a short visit after work. We met at Westmall first and tabao dinner back home to eat. Thanks for the delicious cake and all the NZ souvenirs!

Finally, Nicolas has came over our new house yesterday! Darren could not make it as he was still recovering from chicken pox. It really has been sometime since we have met ! He has lost weight due to chicken pox and he has seems to grown taller. But I am glad to say that Nicolas is still close to me. He felt comfortable after a while and started to be chatty. I brought him around the house and introduced him to every room. Unfortunately, he still got cough, he was not able to go down the pool. I could tell that Nicolas was dying to dip in the pool !

Ck, Nicolas and myself took the mini-bus to Westmall for Mcdonalds.

After we came back from Westmall, Nicolas requested for a bath and was so happy to be the first one to take his shower in the bathtub ! He "bathed" for almost 20 minutes as he was reluctant to get out of the "mini swimming pool".


Nic has a really good time taking his longest bath ! He said he will asked Darren to come and take a shower next time.

Afterwhich we brought Nicolas to CK's mum house for dinner before sending him home. Overall, it was a great day and looking forward to bring him over on 18 July !

We also have a surprise short visit from the housing agents. Hahaha, the agents are actually Auntie Lucy's agent called Audrey and Oscar. They have brought some gifts for us and even Jojo !






Jojo has already playing with the toy and has tried 1 biscuit.

When we bought over this unit from Auntie Lucy, it was original as she did not do any renovations at all. However, Auntie Lucy did installed a gate which looked so much like our Senja's main gate !
These were some of the photos taken before and after renovations.

The Dining Area. Changes: Partial of The wall with the small outlet was hacked and was replaced by a tempered glass opening overlooking the kitchen. A black-lined wallpaper with black mirror flanked the other side of the dining wall. A hang-down cystal lights replaced the old lightings.


The kitchen. Changes: The upper cabinet above the sink was removed to give way to the tempered glass opening of the wall. The wooden kitchen working top was replaced by white solid-surface. The original sink and tape were replaced by a smaller modern sink and tape to create more space for food preparation.



The walkway. Changes : Cover-up the shelves with laminated doors. With this space, we were able to put our shoes, photo albums, DVDs and CDs.





The Living Room. Changes: No renovation was done to the living area. We just dressed up with furniture and new set of curtains. I have yet source for a nice piece of art piece for the wall behind the sofa.




The Guest Rooom. Changes : Wallpaper to be the highlight one side of the bedroom. Generally, the whole house was re-painted, curtains were changed and most of the lightings were replaced.

Common and Master Bathroom. Changes: To cover the exposed area of the cabinet by installing 2 white laminated doors below washing basin








Yard. Changes: No renovations done but dressed up this dull area with some of the country style ornaments !

Moving IN to HRV on 20 June 2009

We stayed over at HVR the night before the actual moving. Early in the morning, we proceeded to Senja Road to meet up with the movers. Jie Jie and family came over to help us to monitor the moving. This is also the first time I finally met up with Yen Chiu's boyfriend, Gerard who is a friendly young man.

The movers were there half an hour earlier. There were at about 6 movers who worked so fast that within half an hour, we were on the way to HVR with all the cartons, TV, drybox, matresses etc.

We did not know that even for moving in, we need to apply for permission with the management. We only knew this from the mover the day before. Therefore, CK rushed to the management office to fill up the neccessary paperwork and to write a cheque of $500.00 in the name of HVR. Somehow, when the movers arrived at HVR, they were stopped by the guards as they have yet received any information from the management office. Luckily after 15 minutes or so, everything was cleared and the movers were able to move everything up our house. If there was no damage to any of the properties during the move, the management office will return you the cheque.

As the dining table has not arrived, we have indicated to the movers to place all cartons in the dining area. We chatted for a while and went for lunch at Bt Panjang Plaza.

There were over 50 cartons to be unpacked and put in respective places. This was indeed a tough challenge. Looking at this mess, somehow, we unpacked cartons within 3 days ! We unpacked early in the morning till late into the night. It was one of the most exhausting experience I ever had. Imagine all the legs pain, backpains ... and lack of sleep !

Huat Ar !

Then she went around with some "Xia Liu" dipped in water and sprinkle around the whole house and shouted "Huat ar" ... hahaha ...

4th Day





The wooden plank and new basin has been replaced. The solid surface will be done next Tuesday.

The "shoe rack" along the corridor have laminated black pattern doors to house the shoes.

The whole house except the 2 washrooms are all "wrapped" by cardboards. Looking over the "hole" is the tiny white kitchen
