Mushroom Pot @ Millenia Walk- Esther & Tiang's Birthday !

This is the first time for most of us to try Mushroom Pot. I understood from Andrew that he has been wanting to try Mushroom even before Colette was born ! Now, he has his little dream fulfilled today !

Since there were 8 of us, we were given 2 pots with assorted soup base to choose from. We have chosen the "Mushroom' & "Yao Cai" soup base for our table. Ah Tiang, BC, Ah Fang & LL's table chose "Yao Cai" and "Ma La" soup base.




We were also allowed to choose 2 dishes of cooked dishes for each table. We have ordered squid & black pepper chicken. All the dishes cooked or raw were served in small portions. I was quite puzzled after the dinner as there were more of other food like beef, chicken, squid, fish etc than mushrooms. I only remembered seeing 1 small plate of assorted mushrooms being served or is it because we did not order more mushrooms ?

CK has cheeckily told me on the way to Mushroom Pot that Ah Tiang can jumped inside the pot :) Haha, for those who know Tiang will know the joke ! But quite mean lah coz today was celebrating her Birthday meh, so cannot ask her to junp into the pot!

LL has bought a cake shared by all ! The chocolate cake was awesome ! We have no problem eating every bite of it this time even though we were very full liao! Next time must really buy good cake to reduce wastage !

As I am writing this blog, I forgot that I was so engrossed that i have forgotten to wish the 2 Birthday girls "Happy Birthday" !

CK and myself went shopping at Suntec and Marina Square. Pretty fulfilling, I bought 2 shoes ! Hahahaha ... I am given a nickname by CK .. guess ?

Curry Chicken

Must kinda record down what I have cooked because CK has forgotten what he has eaten. He cannot remembered that I have cooked laksa, mee siam, chaz kway tiao .... so I made up my mind that I need to take some photos as "evidence" that I indeed have cooked these dishes before ... hahahaha

West Coast Plaza

Been lazying for a week since I've updated my blog.

Tonight, finally, after a mere 10 minutes in Facebook, I have reluctantly logged out to write my blog. It has been really lagged playing "Pets Society" and it was testing my patience to the limits ! Haha ...

It was exactly 1 week before tonight that CK suggested that we had dinner at the newly opened West Coast Plaza ! Many of you might have heard of "Ginza Plaza" especially for those living in the western part of Singapore ?

Yes, they have revamped the place from an uninteresting shopping center to a much nicer one ! That must be years ago since I have explored Ginza Plaza before they renovated the place. Ginza Plaza was a failure and shops have since evacuated shortly after a few years. Renovations shops and Educational centres started to sprawl instead. Soon after, businesses were really bad ...

I sincerely hope that West Coast Plaza is able to make it though this time. CK said that it was unfortunate that they have re-opened their doors during this recession period.




The new owner has introduced a number of popular tenants like Cold Storage, New York New York, Sushi Tei to occupy some of their units. Somehow with their additions, the place seems more hip and happening. They have also make the place more modern, brighter and spacious. I don't remember seeing a foodcourt there. I guessed there's no need to build a foodcourt there as West Coast market and coffeshops are just right opposite it.

There is also M.O.F there and we settled our dinner there. This MOF is a much smaller version of the one at Marina Square and Bugis. They served very nice sandwiches and my favourite desserts. After mentioning to CK several times about this place, finally he has the chance to taste the desserts and food.

We went to the Cold Storage and it was freezing cold inside ! I was shivering throughout and not even dare to venture to the ice-cream or meat area. After 20 minutes in "cold" storage, we decided to head back home ! During a hot day, Cold Storage at West Coast Plaza might be the best place to chill ! I have not entirely explore the Plaza but will be making a trip there anytime !

Sunday

Esther's birthday was postponed as her husband, Andrew's nanny's husband has passed away.

We have arranged BC, Ah Fang and Tiang to meet at Jurong East MRT station. LL has gone to Teck Whye to see a chinese physician, therefore I have asked her to come by our house so that we can go together to Jurong East to pick up the rest of the ladies to IMM for lunch first. I brought Jojo to Jelang LRT station to meet LL. Aiyo, LL, our Jojo very friendly one, dun be so scare of him ... hahaha

We settled our lunch at Crystal Jade Dining Room. The food there was pretty good especially the peking duck ! We have ordered quite a lot of food this time round including "Dian Xin". We were quite hungry when we reached there, I guessed that might have pushed us to order more than we could handle ! However, we still managed to finish all the food. The last "Siew Mai" and "Peking duck meat" was finally finished by LL, BC and Ah Tiang respectively after "teapot pointing" game !

After our sumptous lunch, we could hardly walked.

We ordered far more dishes than the photos shown...forgotten to take quite a number of dishes ... must be quite hungry initially.





We went to Daiso to buy some Christmas hats so that we can take some nice photos on 25 Dec. LL, I have checked, I do have enough scarfs for everyone on that day !

Arrival of Albany's Urn (15 Nov)

After more than 1 week, Albany's urn was finally delivered to us.

We have placed Dorly and Albany's urns side by side in the bedroom.

We felt more rested spiritually that Albany's matter has been taken care of.

Lunch with Jan (13 Nov, Thursday)

Super super xian last week .... really not much mood to work. Was craving for a break ! It's either I took afternoon leave off from work to stay at home or have a leisure lunch with someone !

Jan was equally as xian with me, so I decided to call her if she's free to have lunch with me the day before we met up.

Jan was on full day leave and she was very happy to meet up with me !

We went back to the same restaurant, MOF to eat ! Jan was the one who suggested the venue. She liked the food and embience there. This time round, we ordered food we have not tried before. Both of our choices were pretty good.




We have our favourite dessert consisting of green tea ice cream, red bean and sweet potato. We ordered Hokkaido chocolate ice cream too. I think I must have been to MOF for at least 4 times. It was then I decided to take up the membership. The membership card costed $10.00 for 2 good years which entitled diners to have 10% off from receipt.

After some chatting, we just browsed around Bugis junction before I took a train to Raffles City to meet up with CK.

E C P (East Coast Park) on 9 Nov 2008

Due to LL's constant cravings of biking, we have arranged to meet at East Coast Park this morning at 8:45am.

Guess what? We have received a morning call via sms from LL at 8:05am ... when I first read the sms, I just wanted to burst out laughing as we were about to get out of house to ECP !

Anyhow we reached ECP's carpark about 8:45am and it was a blessings to see so many parking lots. Ah Fang, BC, JL & Ryan were already at Mcdonalds. While waiting for Ah Tiang and LL, we ordered some food and drinks to fill up the empty tummies first.

After some light breakfast, we went to the nearest bicycles' kiosk to rent bicycles. The rental fee per bicycle was $6 for 2 hours. On the way there, we saw Jo and have a short chat with her. We got our desired bicycles and proceeded to cycle along the track that led to the Bedok Jetty.

It have been ages since I have cycled and rather worried whether i can take the physical exertion a not ? Haha ... it was true, when you did not exercise often, your stamina did not last for long ! It was quite a ride ! There were many cyclists, roller-skaters, joggers, strollers with their pets etc in the park. ECP has not lost it's appeal after many years for family gatherings. The morning air was fresh and you feel pretty good after the ride ! It was a very good day today, it was not very hot !





We were all quite beaten after the 2 hours ride except the 2 kids. They seems to have abundant energy ! And the adults were hungry !

We settled down in a Japanese and Korean restaurant. Haha, this was called "replenishing" our lost energy with good food. You don't feel so bad eating the food since you know that you have "compensated" through 2 hours of cycling ! This was called "consoling ourselves" !!! Hee hee. The restuarant is small and but the food they served were pretty tasty ! Check the verdicts from various friends below ! (BTW, my poor friends cannot eat the food till I've photographed all of the dishes ! hahaha)

Ah Fang (Korean noodles, not "Japanese noodles as indicated earlier .. Ah Fang, thanks for pointing out in the comments) : Not bad... nice ....

We stayed for quite a while at the restaurant to chat and rest. We talked about the coming Birthdays for Esther (Nov) and Ah Tiang (Dec). We would celebrate Esther's birthday next Sunday at Mushroom Pot at the newly opened Millenium Walk. We have also decided that Christmas would be celebrated on 25 Dec at our house. The 2 kids were excited as they can forseen a day of playing Nintendo WII at our house !

Finally finally, we have decided on our NEXT VACATION ! It will be in Hong Kong next year in early Nov 2009 !!! So ladies, save up now ! We would do "audit" check once in a while to make sure that you have saved money for this trip !!!
