An hour at Pinnacle@Duxton

Finally, we got the chance to visit the much talk about unique HDB housing in Singapore !

Thanks to Shirley and Jason (& Jason's mum too) for letting us into her very designer-feel house and the 50th storey to catch the awesome views !

We also understand that there is a $5 charge per person for public access to enter the sky bridge. The sky bridge is awesome, relaxing and very clean !

The cityview on the 50th floor. We managed to catch the fireworks from USS at 9pm when we first reached the sky bridge ! CK was quite sharp to notice the fireworks ! (of course, too late to put up tripod to capture that view !)

The rock climbing area ... there were many areas which we have not explored yet hopefully can get a chance later to do so.

The high railings were rather challenging for photography. Quite hard to capture more of the Pinnacle itself.

Overall, a great experience to be in this strategically located HDB ! It does have that condominium feeling in every aspects ! Hee .. missing Leia's occasional hugs now and then ...

Nostalgic moments with May and Shirley (30 May 2011)

The three of us have mentioned before last year to visit the Tanjong Pagar Train station before July this year and I was glad we have fulfilled this little promise of ours.

It was raining in the morning but we have decided to go ahead. May braved the rain and walked to my estate to drive our car to fetch Shirley from Bishan. Jojo can still recognize May and was delighted to see her ! I guess the walk was well-worth it afterall. (wink)

It was amazing by the time we reached Tanjong Pagar Train station, the rain has miraculously stopped ! Bright and shiny ! What a blessing !

We sat by the railway platform to have a hearty breakfast. The mee siam and the sotong were fantastic ! You will feel like time has frozen, just sitting there sipping your teh-tarik ! I wonder all these vendors will go next time ? I have read that the station will be preserved but was not sure if they will retain the flavour of this place !

For the great food and ambience, I have requested CK to bring our parents there for a dinner soon. CK has never been to Tanjong Pagar Train station too and it is a good chance to look around this place in it's original state.

PPEPS

Facebook has been known as quite a powerful social network for connecting old friends and colleagues. How TRUE is this? It's very TRUE!

So far, with the amazing efforts of our two primary friends (Karen), 20 friends have been located. There must be about at 4 or 5 informal meetings among some of the friends since February 2008.

I have not seen some of the friends for more than almost 23 years since we left PPEPS for secondary school education! It was almost fearful to mention the number 23... has it really been 23 years? Time flies, don't they?

There might be some intriguing questions that must have came across our minds, if not mine. How does each of us live our lives for the past 23 years? What have we achieved so far in terms of career, social life, personal achievements etc? Will we be able to connect after so long? The puzzle will be pieced together in time when we meet more often to bridge the 23 years of lost friendship.

All grown up

During the first meetings, we have discussed fondly of our beloved Pasir Panjang English Primary School (PPEPS). I was surprised when my friends told me that Goh Chok Tong was once a student in PPEPS too! Wow!

We have discussed about the triangular-shaped packets of milk with chocolate and strawberry flavors, brushing of teeth with a cup & toothbrush near the drain, Mrs Vals our formidable Form teacher, the big raintree near the entrance with protruding roots, pigeons-dropping in classroom, AVA Room, the vigorous PE lessons etc. So many wonderful memories just made us being a child again. Everyone has something special to chip in ...
