Poeny-Jade Mao Shan Wang Mooncake

I am someone who will not spend money on mooncakes. Somehow, I got this craving for mooncakes this year. This must be the first time in my life that I have cravings for this rather sweet pastry.


The organic pandan snowskin was super nice !!! This mooncake set me back by $52.80 ! (10% off) Jan told me that I should buy the real durians to eat instead. I kinda agreed with her. Nothing beats the real fruits !

Turi Beach Reccee

So far, the biggest resort in Batam ! Good-sized venue for Staff Retreat if you have a larger staff-strength. Weather was hot but there was occasional sea breeze which made this reccee more bearable. In fact, we were very tired at the end of the day. It was even more tiring than working !

BBQ - too late a post though (8 Sept 2010)

Too many events taking place and no time to record down.
However, I thought I should document down all events as they required effort and time to organise.


With my mum in hospital, the BBQ was canceled. However, my fiends have bought all the ingredients and there were no BBQ pits available last minute ! My mum thought that it was too wasteful and encouraged us to go ahead with the BBQ session at our estate. She was operated on this very day and she was very tired and sleepy the whole day. We left SGH about 7 plus and headed home to join the rest.


Very relaxing BBQ session ... we arrived and got ready and delicious food to eat! How blessed ! Thank you my friends !


Not forgetting the colourful fruits and home-made almond jellies !

For those who have came for our ROM many years ago (I think in 1999), Adrian is my colleague in Lucent Technology Pte Ltd then who took the ROM photos for us. He is an ardent photographer and now he's a full time professional photographer ! So lucky to find him in Facebook to reconnect with him again !

Jojo seems to enjoy being groom by my mother. Strangely, he never really like grooming by us and try to "hide" his legs firmly beneath his body !

Going back to work tomorrow

It has been quite an unexpected situation for these past weeks. I have been temporarily "converted" from a white collar worker to a housewife for more than 2 weeks. My colleague smsed me whether I was bored ? At times, I was pretty bored but I have kept myself busy with cooking meals for the family and doing other chores. Proper home-cooked food is indeed so much more expensive than just buying a packet of chicken rice home. The effort of putting a good meal together required much efforts and thoughts. After 2 weeks, my ideas are running out. So far, I have tried not to repeat any dishes but I will soon have to do that !

If you are one of those lucky few when you reached home after a tired day and are greeted with good spread of piping hot food in front of you, please do appreciate the amount of efforts put into cooking the meal. I think for CK, the food is hardly piping hot for him as he always reach home pretty late. However, it was still good to eat home-cooked food.


Just cooked this yesterday ....



My mum and myself will spend some time at SGH for her physiotherapy. She will have to go back like once every 2 weeks depending on her progress.

She is able to walk much better now after her wound has been sealed and after a few physiotherapy sessions. Of course, her speed is very slow and slightly unsteady. The doctor has also granted her another 3 months MC.

There are some worries about lunch for my mum but she said she is happy enough to eat bread as this is normally what she ate for lunch. Anyhow, I will try to buy other stuff so that it's not boring to eat the same stuff daily. My dad is also nice to buy some meat every week for me to cook. Everyone in this small family contributed in one way or another. My fourth auntie (Nicolas's grandmother) has been very helpful and she visited my mum quite frequently to retrieve invoices or MC to the company.

As my mum is able to walk around the house more independently now & it's time that I go back to work. Hopefully, I am able to catch up with work then. There must be piles of emails to clear. (well, half of them are normally junk mails)

DAY at the spacious and well-ventilated Physiotherapy Rehab Centre - Doctor has adjusted the brace to 60 degrees. Meaning my mum can bend her knee to a maximum of 60 degrees

Road to Recovery

My mum had a bad fall on 5 August in her workplace. She was admitted into SGH and I was glad that Fourth Auntie was there to assist and accompany her. They arrived in SGH A&E at about 2 plus in the afternoon, waited ages for X-ray and hours for doctor's consultation. It was only at about 12am next morning before she was finally given a ward ! It had been a long day, expectant of a public hospital !

The X-ray has revealed that my mum has a fractured her patella(kneecap). She would need time to be fully recovered.

We would like to thank you all friends, colleagues and relatives who took time to visit my mum.


Pretty fruits & flowers basket from 1B18 ! Thanks folk ! My mum thought it was from her company ! She asked me what is "1B18" ? Even the inquisitive nurse also asked the same question.

My mum needed time to heal and she needed assistance throughout this tough time. I didn't actually get a chance to go back office because she was discharged after National Day. My mum would need to go polyclinic for dressing of the wound and SGH for physio therapy.


Mum's second sister and cousin came to visit my mum at SGH. This photo was taken before operation, she still looked cheerful. However, after the operation, she was in pain. We took a picture of her wound but my mum told me not to post up as it is too ugly and some people find it a bit uncomfortable to look at it.


The left leg was bundled up by this amazing black brace which could be adjusted accordingly to 0 degree to other degree as advised by doctor. Now, the brace was set to 0 degree. (means the left leg cannot be bend at all)

Back at home ... leg all covered up with plastics and scotch tapes before taking shower !


Sigh ! Mum simply cannot sit still. She felt very handicapped and said she's very bored. She insisted to just sweep the floor ! Ok, at least she got to walk a bit. I cooked all meals for her.


A thoughtful hubby bought these plastic non-slippery squares to lay in the bathroom.

D90 & "A bowl of rice"

I love my D90 !
We went to MS Colour in Ang Mo Kio hoping to get one. Unfortunately, all D90 cameras were sold out. I reluctantly asked to take a look at D5000. Somehow, D5000 is not as appealing. I don't even like handling the camera. Before leaving AMK, I bought the charger and Peneloop batteries. They cost me $52.00, but if they are as good as they sounded, then it's worth it.

CK suggested that we go to Bukit Timah Courts to have a look. To my relief, they also have Nikon D90 offer. Besides giving the free camera bag, one 8gb card, one tripod, Courts also gave another additional 8gb card and a $90 Courts voucher.


Eneloop charger and batteries recommended by Dr New. Supposedly to be very long-lasting.


The free bag came as a surprise to me. This is one of the best camera bags I like. The bag is compact, leather is soft and the design is great !

Just when I was fooling around with my camera, Channel U happened to show a repeated programme called "城市城市生命线 " which featured CK's second brother and family in the show.
