4th Day at Hokkaido

We visited these places on our 4th day:

1. Furano Cheese Factory
2. Furano Wine Factory
3. Tomita Farm
4. Bonus - Chocolate Factory

1. Furano Cheese Factory
We visited a Cheese Factory. Actually it's more like visiting a shop building that sells cheese, cheese ice-creams and cheesecakes. They let us sample some cheeses. One of the cheeses was covered with squid-ink ...






















2. Furano Wine Factory
We proceeded to the Winery factory for wine tasting. Japan is not a very well-known country for producing wine but nonetheless some enthusists still insisted to have their own vineyard. There was a huge patch of lavenders field just beside the Wine factory. All the ladies "fleed" to the lavenders field after the wine tasting leaving the men to appreciate their wine in peace.




















































3. Tomita Farm
Tomita is one of the largest flowers farm establishments in Hokkaido. The entrance is free to visitors and there were shops that sold hundereds of lavender products. The largest flowering patch there was of course the lavender fields. The lavenders were planted on a flatted big piece of land, unlike the lavenders field we saw at the Wine factory which grew on a gentle slope. We did not try the lavender flavoured ice-cream but we bought 2 slices of the super-sweet honeydew to try out. Besides fresh-planted flowers, there was also a dried flowers section. The farm used al sorts of dried flowers to be made into different decorative products to sell.

4. Chocolate Factory
This chocolate factory was not in our itinerary but Ogawa cannot resisted bringing us there as she knew that the beautiful roses were blooming there. Indeed, it was the most magnificent and breath-taking factory we have ever visited. It doesn't look like a factory at all. The buildings' materials were imported from Europe and they were being constructed very much like those dream-like european fairy-like buildings. This factory produces the most popular chocolate biscuits called "Bai Se Lian Ren" in Hokkaido. Recently they have just launched a new series of biscuits called "Mei Dong". "Mei Dong" can only be bought within the factory's shop in whole of Japan at this moment. Therefore you can imagine all the Kia-shu Singaporeans, incluidng us snapping up boxes and boxes of "Mei Dong" even though they were not cheap. The packaging of "Mei Dong" is so beautiful.
