What a Relief ! Mummy, finally it's over ....

We were not in a mood to really work on 8 Aug, on actual day of our dept's performance at Convention Center.

The ladies scheduled our time carefully for make-up, costumes, touched-up and sufficient time for lunch before heading down to Convention holding area.

We had quite some fun trying to doll ourselves up. We bought some glitters and simply dabbed them onto our eyes lids, face, hands & even hair!!! I had an enjoyable time putting on make-up for my colleague, as they do not how to do so.

As for one of our main characters, "Tom Jones", Mathew, I helped him to gel his hair & added some glitters into them ! Mathew is very sporting and let the enthusiastic ladies "meddled" with his image. He has a loud silver coloured buckle belt and necklace on him, yes, with his sexy "fake chest hair" with a few buttons undone on his shirt, glittering hairs, he looked like a Superstar !!! He's going to be popular among the ladies audience later !

The whole group of us with costumes and all walked down to Convention Center. We had 2 final practices at the holding area and felt better with the revision. After that was "wait" and "wait" and "wait" for our turn to perform. I guessed it's the waiting time that was making all of us nervous.

When it's finally our turn to get ready at back stage, everyone was quite relief. We just want to perform instead of waiting around and getting nervous !

We lined up in position from both sides of the stage. I could hear the MC giving an introduction of what we are going to do and the cheering sounded ! Some of our lecturers have a lot of supporters ! Hong Kiat has about 100 students that have turned up to support him !

Our show named "Keeping up with the Joneses" started off with a "Century Fox" music and Dr Forday "roared" like a lion after the music faded. This opening of the show has indeed created a lot of unexpected & surprised laughter from the audience ! They did not expect we would have done this !

Shaundra who acted as Mrs Jones, was all ready with her pretty red feathers around her elegant neck flirting on stage when "Me and Mrs Jones" song was played. Our 2 "flower boys", Hong Kiat and Eddie went on stage to give her flowers. "Shou Ba Zang" song was next and Mr Chang, our senior lecturer, acting as "Botak Jones" walked onto stage selling his Bak Zang when he chanced on Mrs Jones, he wooed her ! The next scene, our charming Tom Jones, Mathew appeared on stage with his song & mike & shaking his body with "She's a Lady" song ! Both Botak Jones and Tom Jones fell in love with Mrs Jones and tried to fight off each other with "KungFu Fighting" song. By now, the audience were totally into the comical story and characters, I could heard them laughing, cheering and shouting endearments to their favourite lecturers !

Next came a familiar theme song music, yes, it's "Indiana Jones" ! Dr Forday who acted as "Indian Jones" came galloping onto stage with his whip to whip away Botak Jones and Tom Jones with his comical moves! Victory was his ! He managed to "rescue" Mrs Jones from both men and ran to Esplanade.

That's our moment ... we proceeded from both sides of the stage and stood in position, lead male dancers on left and lead female dancers on right. The music that has been ranging on my eye drums for weeks played as we danced. I tried to remember to smile and at the same time remember the dance steps. I must say that it was quite fun and the dance was over just in 3 minutes or so. The clapping was deafening !!! We were very relief and happy to leave the stage and congratulated each other for job well-done.

That's not all. We took about 20 minutes of rest at the holding area before joining all performers at the finale on stage singing 2 national day songs. What a Day !!! We were all dead-tired but were glad that we delivered the performance smoothly ! After the NDC ended, we have a lot of positive remarks from other colleagues. We felt happy that we have managed to entertain the crowd ! Happy 43rd National Day !!!

12:12pm, 9 Aug, it might be Mr Saiful's HLM student who has uploaded a video using handphone into u-tube .... the image is blur but it was quite an enjoyment to see and hear the audience screaming away ...
