We took the train to Jiu Fen from Taipei main station. As they have sold out all seats, we have no choice but to buy tickets without seats.
It was not a great ride for me as I was having tummy discomfort. Having to stand all the way there was an agony. I could not remember how long it took to reach Jiu Fen but I was so glad when we finally arrived !
We reached Jiu Fen's town. Rather lost how to get up Jiu Fen old street. Anyhow, we managed to catch a cab on this rainy day. The cabbies increased their published price from NT180 to NT250 per car. Initially, we were contemplating whether to continue the journey to Jiu Fen as we overheard that there was a bad jam if we took the bus. Anyhow, we were very glad that we have taken the cab which went a shorter route to Jiu Fen old street. The bus queue was really long !
It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes to Jiu Fen. The cabbie alighted us near the stairway which led us to the famous old street. There are a lot of steps to climb. To my delight, we passed by Henry Cat shop which I wanted to visit. The external wall was quite attractive, could not resist taking photos there. However, note that no photography is allowed inside the shop.
We finally reached the main old street of Jiu Fen ! This is not the top of Jiu Fen yet. Spotted this lavender shop is pretty sweet.
The first film,悲情城市, was filmed in Jiu Fen which made this place famous.

Yipee ! We reached the top ! Pretty nice view ! Many people were trying to get a good shoot near the viewing gallery ! We were so glad that the rain has somehow subsided. We went to a nearby restaurant to have a long lunch.
Back to Taipei city, Taipei 101 !
