The "silliness" of being young and in love! What would you have done ? The fashion of love have changed over the years! I believe the communication of love changes with time from MSNs, SMSes, FB etc compared to letters written in pen more than 1 decade ago! I got proof to show you !



Hand-written letters with mushy words and greeting cards ! I re-read them and wondered did I really wrote those rather passionate words ??? Somehow, reading through some of the letters made one feels that we were young once and love meant everything to us ! Can understand why my niece and nephew got their "energy" to meet their partners at wee hours !





My 1st Valentine Card from CK in 1994 !!! That's 16 years ago !!! So glad that I still kept all my lovely dovey stuff ! (note: addressing me as "wife" already on our 1st Valentine"!)

Chu Yi cum Valentine Day !

Waking up on Chu Yi feeling rather sleepy and wishing to laze for another 5 minutes of time ! It was not possible, every minute counts on this big day.

First, we have to clean up the house just a little bit more as guests would be coming by later. We left our house about 10:00am to head to my parent's house in West Coast. My dad was surprised to see that we hopped by so early and asked why we did not bring Jojo along. Hee, guess he missed playing with Jojo. Of course, I gave ang baos to my parents and stayed a while before we headed off to CK's mother house. Ah Mi was cooking up a storm and she badly needed help in the kitchen. As usual, Ah Mi will cook her famous fried bee hoon and fried pumpkin kuey to entertain the relatives.

Ah Mi has called us a few days ago that the relatives will like to drop by our new house to take a look. We were not very well-prepared for their surprise visit. We just bought some drinks, "Qian Cheng Gou" and make ice jellies to entertain our guests. Anyhow, I loved when our house is being visited as I love the home being "warmed" by guests. O couse, the happiest of all is Jojo Tan who couldn't contain his excitement to see so many people surrounding him. Yes, he got to do his "tricks" of "shaking hands" and "changing hands" before he go his treats !











































We proceeded to Ah Gu's house. There were many relatives there already. Some of them came as early as 11 plus in the morning ! We were very late this year. But the good thing was that we were able to see some relatives whom we always missed in the previous years ! Jojo was delighted to be running in and out of the house ! We made 2 Tiramisu the night before. Brought one to Ah Gu's house to share.







































We left Ah Gu's house and brought Jojo to be "deposited" at eldest bro's house first before we went home to bring the tiramisu over. On the way to Vere Road, we picked up Ah Mi, sis and family at West mall. When we reached Jojo and gang were amissed. Hee, second bro, eldest sis-in-law and the kids have brought the 2 doggies for a walk around the estate. We had our 2nd "Lou Hei" at bro's house. We also have this "doggies celebrity" photography and videography session with the 2 poor doggies !
We were totally exhausted by the time we headed home. I admired my niece and nephew who were meeting their partners for a Valentine date at such late hours ! The power of love and youth ! The 2 "old folks" namely Ck and me just wanted to go home and catch up with our sleep !

Food is pretty good in this NUS law campus at Cluny Road recommended by Chee Keon. Some dishes were too salty though. We waited quite a while for the rest of the dishes to be served after the "lou hei". As usual, we reserved 2 tables
.

Congratulations to Siew Yen and Mike for their baby girl, Zi Ning's first month !

CNY 2010 (Steamboat with family)

I have always like my mum's steamboat. It promises fresh ingredients and they come in great varieties. Most of the ingredients were bought from the wet market. The red hot fiery chillies was prepared by her too.

New ingredients this round with 3 small crabs. As usual, too many food ... we were really so full. However, we were gamed for desserts and Ben & Jerry ice-cream !

Suddenly, CK said he brought me to Westmall and said he would buy the iphone for me. It is a Valentine gift. It has been a long while since I have got any gift for Valentine. Xie xie ...

Talented Bryan & Gags Asia

Always looking forward to Tuesday night when my eyes could be treated to some home renovations transformation by Bryan! I was really impressed with Bryan. He has this natural talent in terms of choosing the right furniture and accessories to dress up a house. He can draw very well too. Most of the times, he will do his own art and craft to be hung on the wall or simply just drew on the wall itself !

I have been following up on his blogs whereby he will take some photos of "before" and "after" photos of the renovations he has done. If I have watched the episode, I will sure leave my comments for him. As you can guess, it's all compliments lor.

Pineapple Tarts Making 2010

I was appreciative that my friends were able to fulfill my wish of pineapple baking for this CNY ! I think I must have sounded real desperate? genuine ? enthusiastic ? Hee, whatever it is, I was glad that I have asked ...

The week before the pineapple tarts gathering, I have been thinking of how settle my friends' lunch at home. I wasn't a fantastic cook and my inconsistent culinary skills so far has been "tested" on CK and occasionally on my mum. However, I have decided to be brave about it to further "test" it on my friends. Bawahwah ...

Fried items are normally easy, of course. It was just a matter to frying them to near perfection. Well, I admitted that I was a little lazy and did not change the frying oil after I have fried the vegetarian dumplings. The sotong balls, fishcakes and chicken nuggets have some burnt stains on them ! I was also quite anxious about the fried rice as I seldom cook this. The overall fried rice looked appealing but was unfortunately too dry. The noodles was pretty tasteful ... hee hee. Ok, at least one item got positive comments to boost my morale.



After we have regained our energy, it was time for some serious pineapple tarts making ! Oh, the "we" referred to the four ladies, of course ! This year, we were happy that Tiang can join us ! She did not managed to join us last year. We hope that next year, more people can join us too.

Everything went pretty smoothly except that we got unsalted butter instead of salted ones. Somehow, after the pineapple tarts session last year, we more or less knew what should be done. Our Master Fang made the dough while the rest of us rolled the pineapple paste into little balls. The pineapple balls have increased in sizes compared to last year as we wanted to taste the pineapple more. We gossiped as we worked and time passed by quickly. It was entertaining.

Our oven worked differently. Instead of the usual 15-20 minutes of baking time, ours might take another 5-10 minutes more to attain the desired results. We worked fast in getting the pineapple paste inside the dough but the time was wasted on baking them. Nonetheless, we managed to bake all tarts to a satisfactory golden brown.

We were proud and happy with our achievements. They might not be the nicest tarts in the world but the effort and fun of making them far exceeded this. To me, the tarts tasted nice and I couldn't help myself eating a couple more to satisfy my cravings ! Hope the 2 boys and Min Min have fun too! When I told the 2 boys that we will be having 2 gatherings during CNY, JL sounded so happy!

BTW, I have brought them to office and my colleagues gave good comments too !
I am looking forward to CNY whereby we can get together for more good times !

The man and dog never contributed anything to the pineapple tarts lah, but nonetheless we cannot missed the out! Oh, CK helped with the food-tasting! Easy job!
