IB18 -18 years of friendship celebration at Aranda Country Club

I should have written a blog about this last Monday. My mind wanted to do it but physically was really tired from sleepless nights last week. Guess I was quite busy with work and coordination of NP45.

Finally NP45 has successfully came to a closure today and I am able to sit down and write about our wonderful 18 years of friendship celebration at Aranda Country Club on 25-26 October 08 ! Hmm.. as I glanced at the clock, it is now close to midnight .. am I having another sleepless night ? Hubby was already snooring and in dreamland some hours ago.

Anyhow, let's get back to the real topic of tonight .... while the clock has not strike 12 yet.

It has been decided months ago that we will have to celebrate this fantastic friendship shared by this special group of friends who have known each other since 17 years old !!! Yes, we have known each other for 18 years ! From innocent 17 years old Polytechnic students in class 1B18 to 35 years old matured adults !

Initially we have plan to hold the celebration in Bintan. However Jun Long and Ryan were having PSLE, therefore we have decided to settle at a local resort.

Ah Fang has suggested Aranda Country Club and from there, we started our planning. Everyone chipped in and discussed what to do and bring for the 2 nites stay.

This was the first time that we have been to Aranda Country Club. I was pretty curious to see how the country club looks like. To my surprise, the living room and dining room were very big and clean. The 2 bedrooms were huge too and have bathrooms attached to them !

Some of us have arrived earlier, therefore we went to E-hub which was within walking distance from Aranda Country club to buy some of the stuff we needed for BBQ. We have got most of the stuff but have left heavy stuff likes drinks etc to be bought at NTUC.

We started the BBQ about 5:30pm and everyone brought the BBQ stuff down to the BBQ pits on the other side of the chalet. CK and Ryan started to make a fire going. The 2 guys were hard at work while the ladies took out all the BBQ food and do some arrangement. We hated to waste food, therefore when the BBQ list was up, Ah Fang has indicated how much each of us should buy for each item. Somehow, the food still seems quite a lot, but luckily Ah Cheng's brother and Ah Fang's niece and sister came by for a bite !

The BBQ food were really delicious. The lovely marinated chicken wings and thighs, tender satay, spicy otah, golden mushrooms wrapped with bacon, delicious fish etc etc .... mouth-watering !!!! Sur-dap !!!! We were all so full after "devouring" the irresistable food !!!



Nicolas enjoyed the BBQ too ..unfortunately we only brought him over for 1 day.





On the second day, we arrived at Aranda. As you can guess, we did not camp overnight. We needed to bring Nicholas home and feed Jojo the next morning. We left a little BBQ equipment at the chalet. The ladies were innovative as they used aluminium foil to make it into plate to fry the left-over bee hoon, otah, sausages etc for breakfast! CK and I even get to sample some of food they re-fried.

LL has been very enthusiastic about cycling recently. Anyhow we were all geared to cycle, unfortunately the rain started to pour. It wasn't a storm but somehow we have to postpone this cycling passion to another occasion. CK, Ryan and Junlong have decided to go "Wild Wild Wet" to get ... wet ! Even though it was drizzling, they were still allow to go in and have fun. CK has been given an important task to ensure that the 2 little boys did not go too wild at Wild Wild Wet !

As for us, we chose the relax way to while away time. We went to K-Box to sing for 3 solid hours ! We ate the K-box lunch which took ages to prepare and Ah Fang was really hungry. After the KTV, we went back to the chalet for a rest. Esther, Andrew and Colette came, stayed a while and went swimming at the pool. For the rest of us, we just lazed around and talked. When it was time for dinner, we went to Changi Village (Jackie Beer Garden) for some seafood. The salted-egg prawns were really very disappointing. The stall used smaller and not-fresh prawns to cook and the taste was totally different from the last time we ate. Luckily the chilli crabs still tasted pretty good.

After the makan session, we went back to the country club. I have bought a cake to go with the sparkling juice to celebrate this occasion. We yum-seng to our friendship and hope to go overseas next year if we can :) Keep your fingers crossed !!!

















LL and myself have bought some cutish illuminated cartoon characters to give all the ladies as a souvenir. Haha, Mogu, you wanted the Minnie Mouse very badly but I hard-heartedly said that I cannot give you because I "chopped" liao. The secret will be revealed in my blog now ! The reason why I cannot give you the Minnie Mouse is because I got one Mickey Mouse for CK ! Hahahaha ....


















Some of us kinda gathered in one of the bedrooms. Ah Fang has brought with her a list of riddles. They were really fun ! Amongst us, CK has the "highest" IQ ! The rest of us were simply hopeless ! Cannot even guess the riddles most of the time. Ryan has given us a "riddle" which was so lame but superly funny coming from a 12 year old ! So cute lah !

After all the "lame" riddles and jokes, CK and myself left Aranda country club. We were allowed to evacuate the chalet the next morning and most of the ladies will stay for the final night at the chalet.

Overall, this celebration ROCKS and will leave many fond memories for us, I'm sure !
