Trip to Hong Kong with 1B18 Day 1 (20th Year Anniversary)

PRE-FLIGHT "CHALLENGE"

This trip was planned at least a year ago. Initially, we were supposed to head to Bangkok. However, the chaotic situation in Bangkok made us divert our destination to Hong Kong after much discussions.

We have booked returned budget airline tickets from Jetstar for $140.00 per person to Bangkok. This was relatively an attractive deal for us.

Somehow we have to top-up money to change our tickets to Hong Kong. There were three separate bookings made for 14 passsengers.

It was quite a drama even changing the destination. First of all, it was difficult to even get through Jetstar's hotline ! (Ok, I was just fortunate enough not to be one of the callers but my poor friends were)Secondly, different callers were given different advice by Jetstar representatives ! Fang was told that we cannot change destinations for 2 ways. She was being advised that we can only change only returned flight from Hong Kong to Singapore. To get to Hong Kong from Singapore, we need to alight at Bangkok and find our own way to Hong Kong ! What a silly and ridiculous arrangement ! Unheard of !

Somehow, Andrew was much luckier. The Jetstar personnel changed those under his bookings to Hong Kong without much fuss. So what does that lead us to ? One group in Bangkok and one group in Hong Kong ? It was pretty frustrating.

It was fortunate that Esther knew the CEO of Jetstar. She wrote an email to her and try to get her to settle the other 2 bookings.It got settled pretty fast and we were confirmed of seats to Hong Kong ! What a roller coaster ride ! Yes, Andrew was right that it was just not my year to travel without having to be stranded or other things happening !

We came out with our own itinerary as well. One of the highlights was to stay in Hollywood Hotel!

In one way or another, this trip was definitely not as smooth-going and we have to enjoy ourselves in Hong Kong !


DAY 1 in Hong Kong

The plane was packed and cramped with narrow leg space. Luckily, it was just a 3.5 hours flight. For long distances or if you are tall, it was really not recommended to take budget airlines.

We have booked private bus from airport to hotel, hotel to Disneyland & Disneyland to airport. For so many people from aged 3 to 70 and heavy luggages, this was quite a convenient arrangement from place to place.

We have finally reached Hong Kong. It was about 29 degree celsius with breeze. It was not too bad. We checked in at Prudential Hotel and went for lunch soon afterwards. We were famished !


This "Cha Chan Ting" was just 7 minutes walk from our hotel. It was crowded and we bet the food must be good. Well, it was pretty tasty.


































After our well-deserved lunch, we proceeded to Victoria Peak by MTR. (Central MTR)It was still early, therefore we went around Central to take a look. We had a surprise find ! We found Stanley Road by accident !

Fang found the staircase very familiar and said that many HK dramas filmed in this place. We decided to check out the place !


Gentle slopes after the flight of stairs with Pasa-malam alike stalls ...


This famous egg tarts can be found when you reached the top of Stanley Road. Turn right and walk about 3 minutes, You should be able to spot this lovely and traditional egg tarts shop !


Taking a cab which costs about SGD6.00 (can take 5 passengers n 1 cab) from Central to Victoria Peak. Inside the electric tram up to the Peak !
