Holiday of a Lifetime in Europe - Lucerne (Switzerland)

Really looking forward to re-visit Lucerne after 8 long years ! This time round, we have explored the surrounding areas so much better as it's free and easy.


Did not visit this beautiful big church, Lucerne Hofkirche (Abbey Court Church) last time. It was actually just 2 tram stops away from the populated chapel bridge area.So glad it was opened to the public to visit the interior. The interior of the church is so beautiful. It must have took pain to structure such a beautiful building.


The white building with red strips details looked too good to be missed taking a photo with it. Pretty Swiss-looking ! These buildings are just below Abbey Court Church.


Old castle walls within the old town. It was a delight to see such old walls which still remain till now. We walked passed the Lucerne river to get a closer look. On the other side of the entrance, we walked up the slope and saw some alpacas grazing on the grass. Someone must been owing them. It was such a nice spot to take a rest on a bench up the hill with gentle breeze.


This is the probably the most famous landmark in Lucerne, the old chapel bridge. Saw the couple on the right ? They were so funny ... we asked them to take photo of us and they mis-interrupted that we wanted a photo of them ! The lady was so delighted and started to adjust her hair and clothes ...lol. So cute, yes, we did took a picture of them ! So in the end, we took out our tripod and took a picture of ourselves instead.

The Lion Monument in Lucerne is a giant dying lion carved out of a wall of sandstone rock above a pond at the east end of the medieval town. It was designed as a memorial for the mercenary soldiers from central Switzerland who lost their lives while serving the French king Louis XVI during the French Revolution. (Taken from -->http://travelguide.all-about-switzerland.info/lucerne-lion-monument-pictures-history.html) CK was so shocked to see that this place of interest was just the stone wall and a green pond underneath !


Sausages with fries ! A rather common combination of food in Switzerland ! Must try lor ... Food was eaten at the train Station restaurant.


Pork chops with fries. It did not look very nice when it was first served to the table. Surprisingly, it turned out to be rather tasty !


A simple decorated hotel room accommodation in Lucerne. Things were expensive in Europe, even a simple 2 or 3 star hotel will have to cost you about SG200. This was not too bad already without mentioning the tiny and run-down hotel in Zurich and Paris.


Small little hotel, even the Easter Day decorations was sincere and down-to-earth.

Overall, Lucerne is a must place to visit in Switzerland. The lovely old town is too charming to give it a miss !
