I do not fancy wet market as some can be real dirty. Thank God that West Coast Market has gone through a major make-over a few years ago and it is quite clean.
The bustling activities in the market was exciting. CK could not stand the fresh ingredients section and proceeded immediately to the hawker center for his breakfast. My mum and myself went ahead to buy the ingredients we needed for the steamboat. I can finally understand why some people prefer wet market to air-conditioned supermarket. People in the market proudly manned their individual stalls and they are normal beings selling you stuff with communications & feelings with their customers. They acknowledged their frequent customers and beaming with smiles for them. They introduced new stuff to their customers and even give advice on how to cook with that ingredients. In fact, the lady selling vegetables introduced me the beautiful mini "Cai Xim" which was good for soup. I enjoyed the moments I spent in the market this morning.
These are the usual stalls that my mum will frequent when she went marketing. THe stall owners knew her. She said that this stall that sells fish are fresh but slightly more expensive.
The wonderful Yong Tau Fu stall that sells freshly-made Yong Tau Fu ! The stall holder is a relatively young chap who went all the way to please his customer. He has pretty good customer service.
The vegetables all look so nice and the stall has a lot of varieties of vegetables. Many of the vegs would not have seen in supermarket.
